Focal therapy interest
Dr Kooner has spoken publicly about emerging prostate treatments including High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). Two main HIFU platforms are the Ablatherm (used extensively in Europe) and the Sonablate (used mainly in Japan). He travelled to Japan to learn the Sonablate technique from a world leader in the field, as noted on the Urology NSW experimental treatments material that informed this site.
